THE DEN

The Den

Inspired by childhood wonder, the Den is a playground for the imagination. Children can explore a pirate ship, two swimming pools, a Lego and Duplo room, dress-up and makeup area, cinema, library, learning area, music room filled with instruments, and more.

Get ready for one of the most breath-taking experiences of your holiday; watching dozens of playful dolphins in the light of the setting sun. While you cruise into deeper waters, you will be served a selection of canapés and flute of Champagne.

Private Stargazing

Get drawn into a world of celestial glory as you gaze at the night sky through the lenses of our state-of-the-art telescope. Tucked away from the lights of civilisation, our resident Astronomer will introduce you to the splendours of the galaxies that few have been fortunate to witness. We also offer private tuition on astronomy for those keen to learn more.

Glassblowing Class

Enjoy the truly rare experience of learning how to blow glass in Soneva Fushi’s Art & Glass Studio. Our experienced team of glass specialists work very closely with our guests to create their very own masterpiece to take home.

All works created at the Art & Glass Studio are made using recycled glass bottles from Soneva Fushi and other nearby resorts.

A personalised tour of the Soneva Art Gallery and the Soneva Glass Boutique is available upon request.

Party Nights at The Den

Join us for our daily themed Party Nights to enjoy after-hours fun between 19:30 - 22:30. Children can take part in sports challenges, dance competitions, s’mores making and more! Sustainable Evening Fishing

Head out in the boat just before the sun sets to enjoy the spectacular natural scenery, stunning sunsets and rich underwater life of the Maldives, while enjoying some canapés and cool beverages. Our captain will take you to secret spots known for big game, yet away from the reef to avoid causing any damage.

The crew can provide assistance to fishing enthusiasts of all levels, and can teach the basics of fishing with a simple line and a sharp hook. A maximum of two fish per person can be kept, while everything else must be released back into the ocean. For those lucky enough to bring back a sizeable catch, a meal featuring the fruits of your labour will be prepared by the chefs at the resort.

Wildlife Explorer

Discover the flora and fauna native to the island of Kunfunadhoo. Follow the expedition guide along island trails, learning tricks to spot wildlife, how to read animal tracks, the names of each plant and animal spotted in Dhivehi. At the end of the experience younger guests will earn a Wildlife Explorer badge at The Den.

Fishing is a Family Matter

Embark on an ocean adventure with Soneva Fushi’s Maldivian fisherman, Rocket, and his family to learn how to fish sustainably. Rocket has been supplying fish to Soneva Fushi since it was in construction, he knows what the chefs need and knows where to find the fish. After fishing, guests can have their catch of the day prepared for them back at the resort using Rocket’s wife’s marinade recipe.

WATER


Snorkel with Manta Rays

Join us as we search for the enigmatic, graceful, inquisitive and charismatic manta rays in the waters of the Baa Atoll. If the conditions are right, we will go to Hanifaru Bay, just a 20-minute speedboat ride from Soneva Fushi, which has one of the world’s largest populations of manta rays. When time and tide align, fortunate snorkellers get to observe and capture a rolling, whirling feast where it may be possible to see hundreds of these large, yet harmless, creatures congregate to gorge themselves in the plankton-rich waters. There are also several other locations close to Soneva Fushi where manta sightings are common, so the exact itinerary of the trip may vary to maximise the chance of seeing these magnificent creatures. If mantas are not seen on the trip, the Marine Biologist will lead an underwater discovery tour to showcase the stunning scenery of the marine life in the Baa Atoll.

Eco-Friendly Surfing

Discover the beautiful Maldivian waters with a surf trip to one of more than 11 different locations in the Baa Atoll. Surf perfect waves in the warm sun, with no one else in sight but your own private instructor. All spots are located within 30 minutes of Soneva Fushi and are suitable for beginners through to advanced surfers. We offer half day and full day surf trips with an instructor, as well as hourly surfing classes. Surfboards are available to be borrowed at no extra charge. May to September offers the biggest waves, although beginners will enjoy the surf year-round.

Freediving at Soneva Fushi

Freediving is the exhilarating practice of discovering the underwater world using only a single breath. You will learn our finning technique – how to propel through the ocean, increase your breath hold capacity, the ability to both relax and focus, equalisation and of course safety, which is paramount.

Diving at Soneva Fushi

The Soleni Dive Centre’s multi-lingual PADI instructors as well as the small dive group sizes ensure that you get a world-class diving experience, whether you’re doing your first or your hundredth dive. Guided Snorkelling with our Marine Biologist

Accompany our resident Marine Biologist on a guided snorkelling trip to one of the spectacular reefs found in the Baa Atoll. They will introduce you to the various species of marine life. You might be lucky enough to encounter beautiful sea turtles and manta rays, which are common in this part of the Maldives.

House reef snorkelling and night snorkelling are also available. Peer through darker waters at moray eels, lionfish, octopus, lobsters, sleeping parrot fish, and bioluminescent plankton.

Non-Motorised Water Sports

We offer a range of complimentary non-motorised water sports, including kayaks, stand-up paddleboards, windsurfing and catamarans. Private tuition is available at an additional charge on an hourly basis.

Motorised Water Sports

Experience the ocean with complete freedom. Gliding, diving, skimming – all of this is possible with a SEABOB. Learn to move through the water like a fish, on the surface and beneath the waves.

eFoils use a silent electric motor mounted on an all-carbon fibre hydrofoil. Riders, from beginners to those already skilled on a board, can fly for over an hour of fun at speeds of up to 40km per hour!

What happens if you fit a surfboard with a motor? You get an eSurf-board. The eSurf lets you get up to speeds of 56km per hour, making this an exhilarating water sport.

Our youngest Soneva Jani guests can let their imaginations run wild in the Den, or take part in our signature experiences designed to both delight and inspire. The Den

Inspired by childhood wonder, The Den at Soneva Jani is a two-storey awe-inspiring playground for the imagination – and now one of the largest children’s clubs in Asia. Featuring dedicated toddler and teenage areas, no Young Sonevians have been forgotten in the creation of this all-new technology-free family zone. Glide along the zipline through the cascading waterfalls, make a splash in the pool, explore the pirate ship or catch some air on the skateboard ramp. As night falls, teens can hang out in the Cave Bar, where music and mocktails set the scene.

From bioluminescent flooring and hidden infographics on the walls, The Den is ripe for discovery. Hop along the musical piano steps to create your own music, explore global oceanic themes in a 4D perspective, identify the fish that matches your height with the fish ruler, or talk like a fish with Tale of the Whale. A bowling alley, Lego and craft area, dressing-up room and library provide space for books, fantasies and more.



There’s also a soothing sensory area for toddlers, cinema for movie nights, cooking classes and a weekly programme of complimentary experiences, tailored to Young Sonevians and their families. Upstairs, a dedicated roof deck for teens is complete with a music room, telescope deck, pool and foosball tables, pinball machines, table tennis table set above a reflecting pond, as well as a dry slide for speedy escapes.

While parents enjoy some me-time, our experienced childminders are on hand to watch over your children’s every move and ensure they enjoy every moment in a safe and secure environment. Discover less charted and secret surf breaks in the Noonu Atoll accompanied by our surf instructor/guides. All surf breaks are accessible within a 5 - 35 minute speedboat ride. Surf season is dependent on Mother Nature’s mood, though it does peak from May - September. Waves range from waist to head high. All equipment is eco-friendly and made from recycled waste, making us the first fully sustainable surfing programme in the world.

Noonu Atoll Guided Snorkelling

Coral Planting

Help rehabilitate the coral reefs and coral nurseries at Soneva Jani. After a short presentation, you will be able to tie prepared coral fragments to a special star-shaped frame, which will then be relocated to the deeper waters of our restoration site. Every six months after the experience, you'll receive photos to update you on the progress of your coral pieces that will be used as donor colonies for reef rehabilitation. 

Marine Conservation Expedition

Meet our Marine Biologists at Soneva Jani, who play an active role in marine conservation efforts, including conducting surveys on the reef. Join the team on a beach cleanup and help gather vital data by taking part in micro-plastic and coral bleaching surveys.

Sonu’s Picnic

Head to a deserted beach to experience complete privacy. Take a dip in the crystal clear waters of our turquoise lagoon while you wait for your personal chef to prepare a gourmet picnic lunch.

Strap on a mask, snorkel and flippers - snorkelling is a wonderful way to explore the Maldives' magnificent marine realm. Discover thriving reef systems, like the remarkable Rose Garden at Goidhoo, named after its unique floral-shaped corals. Swim among colourful shoals of fish or encounter an array of marine life, from manta rays to rare turtles.

Non-Motorised Water Sports

Explore the pristine, azure waters with a selection of fun, family-friendly water sports, which are all available on board the Soneva in Aqua yacht during your voyage. Paddle around on a kayak or stand-up paddle-board or, on windier days, harness the breeze and glide across the waves on a windsurf. 

Dolphin Sled

The Dolphin Sled experience on Soneva in Aqua, the only one of its kind in the Maldives, is a unique way to explore the magnificent underwater world and encounter curious dolphins along the way. As you fly through the depths on a glider, there’s no need to hold on – the supporting seat means you only use your hands to adjust your descent and ascent. With minimal effort, you can relax and stay under the water for much longer periods of time, taking in those magnificent subaquatic views. Dolphins are fascinated by the sled, and will swim right up to take a friendly look.

Guests wanting to try the Dolphin Sled experience will need to be able to swim and should be comfortable in the water without a life jacket.




Boom Swing

Why simply jump off Soneva in Aqua’s upper deck when you can swing like Tarzan? With a rope swing attached to the yacht’s boom, you’ll be swinging into the sea in no time.


Skurfing

Why wait to catch the waves when you can try skurfing? An adrenaline-fuelled mix of surfing and wakeboarding, you skim across the surface of the sea while being towed behind Soneva in Aqua's tender.



Wake Skating

Skateboarding meets wakeboarding in this exhilarating sport. With a board shaped like a large skateboard, ride the wake made by Soneva in Aqua’s tender.

Fun Tubing

Big splashes and lots of fun. We have two tubes on board Soneva in Aqua. Take a seat on the giant inner tube and hold on tight as you're towed behind our tender. Fun tubing is a much loved activity with our younger guests!

SEABOB

Experience the ocean with complete freedom. Gliding, diving, skimming – all of this is possible with a SEABOB. Learn to move through the water like a fish, on the surface and beneath the waves. The SEABOB is environmentally friendly, moving powerfully and almost silently as you explore the marine world.



Surfing

The Baa and Noonu Atoll have several local spots in addition to Goidhoo, which is one of the most well-known areas in the Maldives for surfing. When we envisioned Soneva Kiri, we knew we wanted to do something special for children. Koh Kood’s untamed jungle and pristine beaches offer the perfect setting to let the little ones’ imaginations run wild, and the Den - a giant moulded bamboo playground shaped like a manta ray - is dedicated to crafting meaningful experiences amongst our younger guests.

Outside the Den, we also offer a range of authentic experiences to be shared as family, from adventures through the rainforest in search of secret waterfalls to counting the moons of Jupiter and identifying constellations in our state-of-the-art observatory.

THE DEN

The Den

A giant moulded bamboo playground shaped like a manta ray hanging high in the treetops. Our Den is dedicated to learning, excitement, and meaningful experiences. Professional child minders pique your children’s imaginations, teaching them to play Thai instruments, unleashing their creative talents with painting and arts and crafts, and carefully watch them at play.

Eco Den

At our Eco Den, our younger Soneva guests (1 – 4 years old) are invited to play with toys and take part in activities that meet Soneva’s stringent standards of social and environmental responsibility. All children are looked after by local child carers.

DIY Workshop at the Den

For younger guests the DIY Workshop at the Den lets their imaginations run wild with learning how to paint to design a t-shirt, decorate a bag or create a photo frame to take home as a souvenir.

Steal a kiss to Casablanca...Watch classics under the stars in a return to the old traditions of Hollywood. Nibble on a playful menu of gourmet comfort foods, accompanied by creative cocktails. 

Films screen nightly in our outdoor theatre, a jungle-enshrouded auditorium of cascading cushions over the waters of the reservoir lagoon.

Stargazing 

Here, on the remote island of Koh Kood, we felt a sense of wonder as we stared into its open sky, far from the obscuring lights of civilisation. That’s why we were inspired to build a state-of-the-art observatory. With the infectious passion of our Astronomers, you’ll soon be identifying constellations, counting the moons of Jupiter and peering at the graceful halo of Saturn’s rings.

Yai Ki Waterfall 

A thrilling adventure to experience the best of Koh Kood. Begin the day with a hike to a nearby waterfall and cool off in the natural spring before exploring the vast abundance of flora and fauna, guided by our expert Tropical Ecologist. If you would rather not hike, we can arrange for you to get to the waterfall by car.

Treepod Dining 

This experience invites you to take fine dining to new heights. Comfortably seated in a bamboo pod, we gently hoist you high up into the tropical foliage of Koh Kood’s ancient rainforest. Gaze out across the boulder covered shoreline dancing with gentle waves, as you savour gourmet delights and wines, delivered via the zip-line acrobatics of your personal waiter.

Sonu’s Picnic 

Embrace the castaway life and try Sonu’s favourite – lunch on a remote corner of a nearby beach prepared by your personal chef. Take a dip in the crystal clear, blue lagoon with our in-house snorkelling guide while your chef prepares gourmet temptations in the most intimate of settings.

Koh Kood Discovery 

An authentic discovery of the local way of life. Experience Ao Salat fishing village and lose yourself in the natural beauty of the lush mangrove forest. Complete your journey of discovery at the stunning Klong Chao waterfall and its cooling freshwater lagoon.

Mangrove Paddle-Boarding

The Mangrove Paddle-Boarding Experience invites guests to explore the unique aquatic ecosystem of Koh Kood’s mangrove forests and learn about the abundant wildlife and the vital role that mangroves play in protecting the island’s delicate ecosystem. Paddle the shoreline for a chance to see turtles, fish and nesting birds.

We offer a range of complimentary non-motorised water sports, including kayaking, paddleboarding, and hobie cats. Private tuition is available at an additional charge on an hourly basis.

Koh Rang Snorkelling

Snorkel the pristine coral reef at Koh Rang Yai National Marine Park. Encounter the rich and abundant marine life as briefed by your personal snorkelling guide. This is an impeccable opportunity to discover the natural beauty of an untouched island.

Koh Raet Snorkelling & Solar Reef 

Soneva Kiri’s Solar Reef is a man-made reef garden powered by the sun. It is an artificial structure with coral transplants grafted to it. The reef attracts numerous species of fish, who have now chosen it as their new natural habitat and breeding ground. 

The sculpture garden just off Koh Raet’s south coast is definitely one of the most unique dive sites around Koh Kood. 

Koh Raet, a small island just 10 minutes west of Koh Kood is home to a number of artificial reef projects. The sculpture garden includes an elephant, tiger, horse, cow and a dog, all placed in an area of powdery white sand. 

The nearby natural reef is a highlight on its own with lots of dense, cavernous coral structures, anemone fields and giant clams.

Seven Days, Seven Beaches 

Step aboard a wooden fishing boat, which becomes your private beach club at anchor: snorkel, swim ashore to sunbathe, go kayaking or paddle boarding, and enjoy a gourmet lunch, prepared on board. The beaches on include: Klong Chao Beach, Ao Kluai, Koh Rang's Blue Lagoon, Klong Han Beach, Ao Tapao, Klong Ngamko Beach and Takhian Beach. Choose from a one-day cruise or the full seven-day adventure.

Learn techniques passed down from one generation of fishermen to the next with the Traditional Thai Fishing Experience. Guests can choose to dine in their villa or on the sands of South Beach.

Photography and Videography Service

Capture all your Soneva memories with our in-house photographer and videographer. Leave the hard work to us and simply live each moment to its fullest without the worry of missing the perfect shot. Choose to have us follow you during one of our signature Soneva experiences or set up a photo shoot to capture portraits in paradise. We also have a number of GoPro cameras available for rent if you would like to be the director of your own holiday video.

Klong Chao Beach & Waterfall Adventure 

Discover unspoiled Koh Kood at its finest, with a trek through the island’s lusciously dense rainforest. Along the way, cool off in the crystal clear waterfalls that cascade magically over five different levels and swim in the pool below. This activity requires a moderate level of fitness as uphill hiking is involved. 

This experience is exclusively available to guests staying at Soneva Kiri. Not suitable for children under 12 years of age. Requires closed-toe shoes. Difficulty level = hard.

Mountain Bike Tour 

Go on an invigorating mountain biking adventure around Koh Kood. Cycle along quiet roads in the shade of rubber trees and coconut groves. Explore the bountiful hills and interact with nature as you experience the island on two wheels.

Thai Cooking Class 

We invite lovers of Thai food to master the art of traditional Thai cooking. Join our chef as they source freshly caught fish in the local fishing village of Ao Salat, before learning how to prepare your first authentic Thai dish, a perfect day of culinary discovery. Please contact your Barefoot Guardian for advanced booking.

Ao Salat Seafood Barbecue 

Start this experience with a glass of Champagne while the sun sets and our boat takes you to Ao Salat fishing village on the North East tip of Koh Kood. A local family will welcome you to their traditional house to experience their way of life.

Then enchant your senses with a local seafood barbecue prepared by our chef.
