Easter Programme

Soneva Fushi's Island-Wide Family Easter Egg Hunt

Join forces with your entire family this Easter and search high and low all over the island of Kunfunadhoo. Collect as many wooden eggs as you can find! They can be exchanged for chocolate eggs, and the hunter with the most eggs will win a special prize.


Children’s Easter Activities

This year, to celebrate Easter the Den Team has arranged lots of arts and crafts around this theme. Our young guests can get creative and make papier mâché Easter eggs, their own personal egg collecting baskets, Easter-themed cupcakes and masks. They can also take part in an Egg-athon, mini Easter picnic, and a special Den Easter Egg Hunt!


Young Sonevian's Football Camp by Mikael Silvestre

(Mar. 20 - Apr. 10, 2021)

It is that time of the year again! Young football fanatics can learn from one of football's legends, the former Manchester United, Arsenal, and French national team player, Mikael Silvestre. He was a fantastic asset for the club under Sir Alex Ferguson for nine seasons, amassing 361 appearances in all competitions for the Red Devils. He recorded five League titles, the FA Cup, the Football League Cup, two FA Community Shield victories, the Intercontinental Club World Cup, and the Champions league in May 2008 before switching to Arsenal for two seasons under the reign of Arsene Wenger.

So, get ready to hone your footwork, dribbling, and striking skills, learn about game strategy and what it takes mentally and emotionally to be at the top of your game. Part of the camp also includes playing friendly matches to put your new skills to the test. This year Mikael is hosting two 6-day camps: Mar. 26-31, and Apr. 3-8, 2021.

Dinner with Visiting Chef: Dylan Jones (Apr. 1-10, 2021)

The best Thai restaurants should be found In Thailand, and with that belief in mind two chefs, Duangporn Songvisava (Bo) and Dylan Jones, started Bo.lan. The name Bo.lan comes from Chef Duangporn’s nickname Bo and the second half of Dylan’s name Lan. It is also a play on the Thai word for vintage or ancient. Chef Dylan Jones, never bound by convention, left the sleepy town of Canberra for the food rich city of Melbourne. Here he completed his apprenticeship and first fell in love with Asian flavours. From early on, the pair received rave reviews from local and international press alike.


Visiting Astronomer: Lars Lindberg Christensen

(Mar. 27 - Apr. 10, 2021)

Lars is an award-winning astronomer and science communicator. He has authored a dozen popular science books translated into more than 10 languages. Lars has directed more than 10 documentaries and planetarium movies that have received critical acclaim around the world. He is currently responsible for the communication, education and community engagement for Astrolab, consisting of Cerro Tololo, CSDC, Gemini, Kitt Peak and LSST operations. Lars has more than 200 publications to his credit, most of them in popular science communication and its theory. Lars received the Tycho Brahe Medal in 2005 for his achievements in science communication and has been credited with leading the most successful outreach efforts in European Southern Observatory (ESO)'s history.


Breakfast at Mihiree Mithaa

Wake up to a buffet breakfast. A wide range of international specialties and delicacies include pastries from the oven, fruits, hot and cold favourites. All made with the freshest ingredients from Soneva Fushi and Soneva Jani’s organic gardens.

Oppidan Education

Oppidan’s mission is to engage and inspire. The UK-based experts for all things learning are here at Soneva Fushi to organize summer camp workshops and activities for children on the island. Best suited for children aged 7+, sessions take place every day from 10:30 am to 12:30 pm. The workshops are complimentary. Oppidan’s mentors are also experienced in helping boost the confidence of children and teens, ensuring they always give their best. If you are interested in private sessions to support a specific subject, or general mentoring, please speak to your Barefoot Butler.


Dinner with Visiting Chef: Cédric Vongerichten

(Mar. 25 - Apr. 4, 2021) at Once Upon a Table

Cédric Vongerichten was born in Bangkok, Thailand, where his father, Jean-Georges Vongerichten, was chef at the Oriental Hotel. At the age of two, Cédric moved with his family to New York. By 17, he officially began his career as a chef, in the Bahamas. He continued to learn about food as he travelled the world, working at London’s Berkeley Hotel; Hong Kong’s Mandarin Oriental; and El Bulli, in Barcelona. A graduate of the prestigious Culinary Institute of America, he rose through the ranks at several Jean-Georges restaurants. After working as a sous chef at Jean-Georges, he was appointed Chef de Cuisine at Perry St. Cédric was named one of the top 30 up-and-coming chefs under 30 by Zagat. In the spring of 2018, Cédric and Jean-Georges introduced Vong Kitchen, a New York-style grill, and they launched Le Burger, a sumptuous burger bar, both in Jakarta. In February 2019, Cédric opened the doors of Wayan, a French-Indonesian restaurant in Manhattan’s Nolita neighbourhood.


Dinner with Visiting Chef: Alberto Faccani

(Mar. 30 – Apr. 13, 2021) at Once Upon a Table

Alberto has been passionate about the restaurant industry since he was a child. Named by prestigious Italian food and wine guide, Identità Golose, as one of the ‘100 chefs who have changed Italian cuisine in the last 10 years’, his dynamic style of cuisine is self-taught, blending styles, forms and traditions. After working at the Michelin-starred La Frasca and Enotecca Pinchiorri restaurants, at the age of 27, he decided to open his own restaurant, Magnolia, in 2003. Within just 18 months, it had received its first Michelin star, and today has two Michelin stars to its name. Passionate about preserving and enhancing regional culinary traditions, Alberto is a member of the CheftoChef Emilia Romagna Association, and runs a culinary school in partnership with KitchenAid.

This February, our younger guests can enjoy a whole array of exciting, fun, and educational activities that have been planned by our Den Team. They can let their imaginations run wild by upcycling rubbish into artistic masterpieces or showing off their skills and hobbies at our Talent Show. Become a pirate and make treasure maps and then hunt for buried treasure around the island.

Delve into our philosophy that places sustainability at its core when you tour Soneva Fushi’s Eco Centro and organic gardens at Fresh in the Garden. See the many ways that we use island-grown coconuts for food and materials, while also gaining an in-depth understanding of the principles of permaculture before picking greens and herbs for your lunch which will be prepared to your liking.


Conscious Experience: Wildlife Explorers

Specially designed for Young Sonevians and their families, this immersive experience lets them get up close to the wildlife that calls Kunfunadhoo island their home. Learn about the flora and fauna that inhabit the island, their names in Dhivehi, stories about them and learn how to spot animal tracks. 


Conscious Experience: Fishing is a Family Matter

Experience what it is like to be a sustainable fisherman in the Maldives as you are taken out to the fishing spot of the day. Get an in-depth look into the techniques used by Rocket and his sons, and see how fishing is so entwined with the everyday life of Maldivians. After an evening on the seas, return to  Soneva Fushi to dine on your catch of the day for dinner.

Join our Astronomer and learn about the secrets of the night skies. Through the lens of telescope discover the constellations that were used by our ancestors to navigate and pass down stories from generation to generation.

Our younger guests can learn the secrets of making pizza like a pro or try their hand at making traditional Maldivian dishes. Then after all the fun they can dine on their creations.

Join Charles and his team in our underground cellar and sample six carefully chosen wines from around the world. A selection of cold cuts and cheeses will accompany your wine pairing. At the cellar in Out of the Blue we also have 250 magnums available by the glass or bottle.

Our sushi counter at Out of the Blue sees someone of the world’s best sushi masters behind its sake-polished Japanese pine, known as ‘hinoki’, counter top. The intimate five-seater sushi counter lets you experience Chef Akira’s dexterous skills up close. 


Afternoon Tea at Bar(a)bara 

Indulge with a leisurely afternoon treat with a Soneva twist, all while suspended on the catamaran nets over the turquoise waters. 


Asian Market Buffet 

Wander between the live cooking stalls and stations where dishes from around Asia tempt you with their aromas. Choose between seafood, meat, vegetarian and plant-based fare. Curries, stir-fries, tandoor, sushi and sashimi, rice, salads and more are at your disposal.  


Dinner at Shades of Green by Jenefer 

Experience an evening filled with surprises, starting with a walk of discovery through Soneva’s organic vegetable garden. The menu features simple yet experimental organic and plant-based dishes, blending Maldivian and Southeast Asian cuisines; which are then prepared using Nordic techniques such as smoking, salting, fermenting and pickling. 


Dinner at Down to Earth by Ravi 

Inspired by the practice of dining as a primal bonding ritual, Down to Earth’s plates are perfect for sharing. Choose from a selection of international and South Asian dishes, all beneath the soaring dome. 


Dinner at Fresh in the Garden by Derrick 

Freshly picked delights bring back memories of childhood; midsummer strawberry picking, twisting dandelions in hand, and jumping in puddles. In Soneva Fushi’s eternal summer, Fresh in the Garden rekindles these sensations from its lofty perch. Surrounded by tropical banana trees, this restaurant without walls rises above our herb and vegetable garden with sublime panoramas stretching as far as the eye can see. 


The Den 

Join us at The Den for lots of fun and games. You will find creative and learning inspired activities on The Den programme or just come and hang out with us and tell us what you would like to do. The space and programme are designed for children 4 years and older; children under 4 years are welcome to join us if accompanied by a parent or a babysitter. The Den is open daily from 10:00-17:00, and we do not close for lunch, so families and children can order In-Villa Dining to The Den should they wish to dine there. 

Movie Night at Cinema Paradiso 

Join us on the comfy daybeds for films beneath the starry Maldivian sky. Choose between a modern and classic film each evening, the one with the most votes will be projected onto the widest screen in the Maldives. 


Sunset Dolphin Cruise 

Head out into the deeper waters off of our island on the lookout for playful dolphins frolicking in the light of the setting sun. Enjoy gourmet canapés and a sparkling glass of bubbly to toast the occasion. 


Water Sports 

Pick up an old hobby or try a whole new sport with our selection of complimentary non-motorised and chargeable motorised water sports. These include paddle boarding, wind surfing, canoeing and kayaking, kite surfing, sailing, fun tubing (single ring, two and three seat tube), water skiing, mono skiing, knee boarding, wake boarding, laser boat, sub wing, and our Seabob.

Nibble on cheese, cold cuts before your meal, and then delight in the resort-made chocolates, ice creams and sorbets in our complimentary deli and sweets rooms. 

So Social on the Sandbank 

Join your fellow guests on our private sandbank every Tuesday evening as the sun begins to set over the horizon. Meet and mingle with our Management team as you enjoy a selection of cocktails and drinks, gourmet finger food and massages on the sand to the sounds of traditional Boduberu drums. 

Dinner at So Bespoke by Hiroshi 

Sizzling and smoke set the stage for So Bespoke, Out of the Blue’s Teppanyaki table. This outdoor restaurant commands an incredible view to the west, with unspoilt views of the Baa Atoll. Our experienced Teppanyaki chef, will be grilling and barbecuing for a small audience of only eight guests per sitting.
